Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) Agent
Having an FSVP agent in place allows foreign food exporters to sell directly to U.S. retailers or distributors, not just through importers. The FSVP rule applies to U.S. importers, but if a foreign entity wants to export food directly, they must appoint an FSVP Agent to fulfill the role of the U.S. importer or act on their behalf. This is especially important if the exporter is self-importing (i.e., no U.S. buyer at the time of entry). Without an FSVP agent listed correctly, the shipment can be held or refused at the port of entry.
Registrar Corp may serve as your FSVP Agent or representative depending on the type of product(s) and associated level of risk.
