Step 1 – Check All Mandatory Label Elements
We review your labels on the product and package to confirm they include all required elements under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Article 19, including:
- Name and address of the Responsible Person (EU and/or UK)
- Precautions of use and mandatory warnings
- Net contents in correct units
- Batch number or reference to identify the product
- Date of minimum durability or Period After Opening (PAO)
- Product function
- Full ingredient list (INCI format)
- Directions for use
Responsible Person
Name and address of the Responsible Person, who ensures the product’s compliance wish the regulation
Nominal Content
- Must state the product’s weight or volume at the time of package
- Correct units of measure
Date of Minimum
- Indicate Expiration Date for products with a shelf life under 30 months
- For longer shelf lives, specify the period after opening (PAO)
Precautions for Use
- Required Warnings
- Special Precautions
Batch Number
- A batch number or reference for identifying the product
Product Function
- The function of the product must be indicated unless it is clear from the presentation
Ingredients List
- Descending order – by weight
- Colors appropriately identified
- Fragrances listed according to regulation

- How to apply the product (e.g., amount to use, frequency of application)

On labels, INCI listings are required to order ingredients in the following way –
- Ingredients are ordered in descending %weight order above 1%
- Ingredients at 1% or less can follow in any order
- Colorants are listed at the end or under “may contain” if used across different shades
